Hexamid Tents 
Hexamid tents are minimalist shelters with fully enclosed screen. A removable bathtub floor or poncho can be taken out to sleep under the stars or dry everything faster. These are also available as tarps without the screen.

The Hexamid Twin is spacious for one or a minimalist shelter for an average size couple. It has fully enclosed screen, a detachable bathtub floor for versatility, and storm doors for 360 rain protection.

Products are made to order. There is currently a lead time of about 6 weeks.

 

  • Set up requires two adjustable trekking poles and a minimum of six stakes. Eight stakes are recommended. The main trekking pole should be set to around 48 inches (122 cm), the back pole to about 32 inches (81 cm). Either pole can fluctuate a couple inches.
  • Tent poles are available if you don't use trekking poles.

  • Reasonable space for two average size people plus gear, or a palace for one. The tent is long enough for most people to fully stretch out their arms and legs, and tall enough for two people to sit upright. The front edge of this tent is longer than the rear, it works best with a shorter partner towards the back. A couple with two tall partners should consider the Duplex as a more spacious alternative.
  • A 6 foot tall person centered in the tent would have about 17.5" (45 cm) of vertical height at the end of their head and feet (more factoring in the extra lift from the end guy lines).
  • A pair of storm doors protect the front of the tent from rain spray. The doors overlap in front, you never have to worry about a broken zipper. They clip down to the front center guy line, or roll up out of the way. Leave one or both doors open for air flow when the weather allows it. You can also use the doors for vestibule space.
  • Great ventilation, and a great view through the large screen entryway. 6" (15 cm) of screen around the perimeter allows air flow. The bathtub floor is set back from the screen walls. You can leave both storm doors open in the rain for air flow, unless spray is blowing directly at the front of the tent.
  • Our Hexamid tents are unique in that they have a fully enclosed screen floor which keeps 100% of insects, spiders, ticks, etc out!

    • You will need a separate waterproof bathtub floor on the inside, on top of the screen, just like sleeping under a tarp. Keeping it separate from the tent offers the following advantages:
  • 1.Our Cuben Fiber Bathtub Floor works great, but alternatively you can use a Poncho to double as rain gear, a Bivy, or inexpensive material like Tyvek to save on cost.
  • 2.On nice nights you can take your separate floor out and sleep under the stars or on the ground under a shelter.
  • 3.If rain is blowing hard at one side of the tent, you can fold or shift your floor away from any spray. Rain spray or condensation runs harmlessly out the screen floor.
  • 4.You can set your wet shoes, wet pack, and clothes on the screen, while keeping your bathtub floor dry.
  • 5.You can take out your bathtub floor to dry the tent off faster. If the tent is wet you can pack your dry floor separate.
  • 6.Normally the floor stays clipped in place and packs up with the tent. You don't ever have to take it out except when you want to!

  • Each inside corner of the tent has a loop and clip for attaching your bathtub floor. The peak also has a loop on the inside for hanging a flashlight or stuff sack.
  • All of our tents do pretty well in the wind. The material can handle high wind loads. As long as your stakes stay in the ground (use rocks if available) your tent will stay standing. Cuben Fiber is not a particularly noisy fabric, however almost any tent will make a little noise in the wind. Ear plugs are not a bad idea for windy nights.
  • Cuben Fiber is semi-transparent. In bright sunlight you can see a fuzzy silhouette of a person sitting inside the tent. You cannot see any details and it has a suitable amount of privacy for changing clothes etc. In lower light (such as in the evening or at night) you cannot see through at all. We also have thicker, darker material available as an upgrade below.
  • One nice thing about Cuben Fiber is you can also see the outlines of trees and your surroundings for a more connected outdoor experience.

    • Construction: 
  • Our tents are made from .51 oz/sqyd (17.4 g/m) Cuben Fiber material. Cuben Fiber has several advantages over other materials:
    •        * Cuben Fiber has a very high strength to weight ratio. The material can handle high wind force and does not tear easily.
           * Cuben Fiber is waterproof.
           * Cuben Fiber is made from Dyneema threads which do not stretch. The tent stays taut all night. Nylon material by comparison can stretch and sag, especially if it gets wet.
           * Tape sticks well to it. Any damage can easily be fixed in the field with our Cuben Fiber Repair Tape.
           * The seams are stitched and then taped taped water tight. The tie outs have bonded reinforcements for high strength. No seam sealing necessary!

  • This tent has fully enclosed .7 oz/sqyd (24 g/m) insect screen. The holes in this screen are super tiny, even the smallest insects cannot get through. Our tent screen is about 30% lighter than comparable Noseeum screen with no noticeable decrease in durability. The screen floor holds up surprisingly well. As long as you are a little careful to move pointy things from your tent site you are unlikely to get any damage. If it did get a puncture it would be under your solid bathtub floor where it wouldn't affect the performance of the tent.
  • The separate (optional) bathtub floor is made from 1.0 oz/sqyd Cuben Fiber. This material weight is more than twice as thick as the canopy material and is more resistant to abrasion and punctures. As with all Cuben Fiber it is easy to patch with tape.
  • Bright Yellow 1.25 mm Spectra Z-Line cord is included for guy lines (uncut). This cord is very strong, tangle resistant, and doesn't stretch so it gives you a tight pitch. Yellow is easy to see day or night. We recommend fixed length guy lines for the easiest set up with no knots or adjustment necessary. Some customers choose to add Linelocs or different cord. The side guy lines can be propped up with a second set of trekking poles (if you are hiking with a partner) for extra head room, though it is not necessary.
  • The expected life span of this shelter is at least one full 2500+ mile thru hike, or many years of casual use with some care.
  • All ZPacks gear has a one year warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. Returns or exchanges are welcome.

  • A medium 6" x 12" stuff sack adds .3 ounces (8 grams)
  • Six elastic bands and clips to attach your bathtub floor to the shelter are included. .5 ounces (14 grams)
  • Fully enclosed bug screen adds 5.8 ounces (164 grams)
  • A detachable Twin Cuben Fiber Bathtub Floor adds 4.6 ounces (130 grams)
  • The Total Weight for the tent including all of the above is  18.8 ounces (533 grams)
  • 8x Stakes are required but are not included. We have a variety of Ultralight Stakes to choose from. 
  • These weights are as accurate as possible. Compare carefully! Many other manufacturers leave out seam sealing, lines, stuff sack, stakes, ground sheet etc from their weights.

    • Material Choices:

    1)0.74 oz(19g)/sqyd Spruce Green Cuben Fiber Material 

    The default tent material is .51 oz/sqyd Cuben Fiber. This material has proven to be plenty strong enough to handle high winds, and your tent will normally not be subject to abrasion or punctures. If it does get damaged (for example by a falling branch or sparks), the material is very easy to patch in the field with our Cuben Fiber Repair Tape. 

    Some people prefer to upgrade to heavier .74 oz/sqyd Cuben Fiber for added peace of mind. My own opinion is this material is not necessary, but it also does not hurt other than a small weight increase. It adds $15 to the price, and around 1.5 ounces (45 grams) to the weight. We have it in dark green as shown. It is a little bit less transparent than the thinner material.

    The detachable bathtub floor is always made from black 1.0 oz/sqyd Cuben Fiber which is thicker and stronger than the tarp material.

    [Carbon Fiber Tent Poles]
    These tent poles are made from high quality wrapped carbon fiber tubing with internal carbon ferrules. The tubes are stiff and have a high strength to weight ratio making them ideal for ultra light tent poles.
    The poles are cut into equal length sections and are bound together with 1/16" shock cord. The ends have vinyl end caps. We have three different thicknesses of Carbon depending on the length of the pole.

    Our 22" and 32" poles are made from thinner carbon because they don't need to be as strong (or as heavy) at that length. Our 48" and 52" poles have taped joints to improve their strength. Our 58" pole is made from much thicker stronger carbon to support it at that length, but the price is significantly higher.

    Most of our poles have a short folded length, so they can be packed up with your tent (in a tent pole sack). Our Altaplex pole folds to 16" and can be carried in your backpack's side pocket.

    If you want to use these with a tarp, or on an exterior tent pull out, you might want a tent pole cup to hold it in place. 

    A Hexamid Solo takes a single 48" (122 cm) pole.
    A Hexamid Solo-Plus takes a single 52" (132 cm) pole.
    A Hexamid Twin takes a 48" (122 cm) main pole and a 32" (82 cm) back pole.

    배송안내

    - 배송비 : 국내 당일배송 상품의 기본 배송료는 무료이며 구매대행 상품의 경우 13만원 이하는 현지 운송비 1.5만원이 추가될 수 있습니다.

      (일부상품 및 도서,산간,오지 일부지역은 배송비가 추가될 수 있으며 구매대행 상품의경우 일부 별도 항공료가 추가되는 상품이 있습니다.)

    - 국내배송 상품의 평균 배송일은 2-3일 정도이며 늦어도 7일이내 배송됩니다.(입금 확인 후) [배송예정일은 주문시점(주문순서)에 따른 유동성이 발생하므로 평균 배송일과는 차이가 발생할 수 있습니다.]

    교환 및 반품안내
